Stores and website, one customer
36 stores and a website that finally recognise the same person.

1
customer record across store and web
Context
Mokobara grew from online-only to 36 stores in four years.
The problem
The stores and the website had become two businesses with the same logo: different tills, different customer records, membership perks that worked in one place and not the other.
The bet
- Define what 'one channel' actually means before buying anything: one customer identity, one order history, one promotion engine, whichever door the customer walks through.
- Build a point-of-sale platform around how Mokobara's stores actually work, with a partner team, rather than force an off-the-shelf one to fit.
- Solve the everyday edge cases the sales floor hits, like splitting a discount fairly across a store bill and a home-delivery bill.
My role
Led the programme for Mokobara, with devx AI labs building the platform.
What shipped
POSX went live across the store network on 27 May 2026, six months after the brief, with store and online orders feeding the same customer and order records.
What happened
The website and the stores now operate as one channel. Membership, returns and reporting describe the whole business rather than half of it.
What it taught me
Omnichannel is not a store plus a website. It is one customer record, and everything else follows from it.
